Recipe: Raw Cacao Maca Milk
While delicious, traditional chocolate milk can cause inflammation and weaken our immune system because of the processed sugar and dairy content, but there's hope for all of us nostalgics who crave this childhood favorite! This version of chocolate milk is packed with nutrients to support your hormones, decrease inflammation, and increase antioxidant.
Cacao: Unlike cocoa, cacao is a raw food that retains the vitamins and enzymes that get stripped during the processing that cocoa undergoes. Cacao is one of the highest antioxidant super foods, meaning it aids your immune system in fighting off disease. It contains magnesium, iron, manganese, fiber, and is known to help elevate mood.
Maca: Maca is often found in a powder form and has a nutty butterscotch aroma. It helps balance hormones and supports the healing of adrenal fatigue. Maca also improves stamina and mental clarity and can help reduce depression and anxiety.
Raw Honey: Raw honey aids in supporting the immune system, reduces inflammation, acts as an antibacterial, and is rich in minerals and enzymes. Raw honey can also serve the gut as a prebiotic, feeding our friendly gut bacteria. Make sure to purchase honey in its organic/wild, raw form, and buy local as the local pollens have added health benefits.
Coconut Oil: Coconut oil adds healthy fats to allow your body to better absorb all of the other nutrients and keep your blood sugar steady. By adding coconut oil to this drink it makes it super creamy!
