Gut Health Series: Part 1
I'm super excited to bring you this series because it's pretty near and dear to my heart. I've spent the past 8 years unraveling, researching, experiencing more symptoms than I knew possible, working with specialists, and experimenting in order restore my own gastrointestinal system. It's resulted in an arsenal of knowledge that I am excited to share with you in hopes that it will cause a ripple effect in your wholeness.
The gut is often regarded as the most complicated system in the human body, which explains why the mysteries of gastrointestinal disfunction can be very frustrating and often even disregarded by practitioners. But the very complexity that makes it so frustrating to diagnose, is also the complexity that allows it to positively affect EVERY part of your wellbeing. So I'm going to break it down into key topics and follow a Q&A format to answer some common inquiries. If you have questions that you want answered please comment below! *Please note that I am not a doctor and you should consult your specialist if you have any medical concerns.
First of all, what are you referring to by "gut"?
The "gut" refers to the parts of the body where food is digested, metabolized, absorbed, and delivered to your cells to use as energy. We'll be referring to the various glands, microorganisms, systems, and organs that play a role in the process of turning your food to fuel, including your 25 feet of intestines and 39 trillion bacteria that are working night and day to keep your miraculous body running.
What is the gut responsible for?
The gut is a major component in regulating mood, keeping the immune system functioning, and supporting the majority of the systems in your body. If you have healthy skin, hair, and nails....you can thank your gut. If you experience seasonal allergies....it can likely be traced back to your gut. If you have wild mood swings or have recently yelled at an inanimate object....your gut might need some TLC. It impacts nearly every part of our wholeness and that's why we're going to dedicate this series to restoring yours to its full potential!
