3 Ingredient Detox Bath

Baths are one of my favorite healing modalities because they’re a 3 in 1.  They provide benefits for every part of us: mind, body, and spirit.  Hello efficiency!  Below I’ve listed my favorite bath recipe and facts to consider next time you’re ready to treat yourself to some soothing self-care!

1.  Why epsom salt?  Epsom salt is a combination of magnesium and sulfate.  The magnesium component helps your body fight fatigue, lowers stress levels, and aids in the restoration of digestive disorders.  The sulfate component promotes detoxification by helping your body eliminate toxins.  Epson salt also restores skin vitality through exfoliation and hydration, has anti-inflammatory properties, and treats achy muscles.

2. Why lavender?  Lavender essential oil has been used for centuries in aromatherapy.  Studies show that its properties help to reduce anxiety and stress, promote skin vitality, defend against digestive disease, and relieve pain.

3. Why a bath?  Immersing yourself in warm water helps to lower blood pressure and triggers a calming response to the internal systems.  When the body experiences sensory calming, it is more capable of restoration, detoxification, and proper system functioning.

Here's to your next restorative detoxifying bath!

Ingredients:

2 Cups Epsom Salt

5 drops Lavender Essential Oil

Bubble Bath - My favorite is the Every Day Shea Bubble Bath because it doesn’t use artificial fragrances or chemicals.  You can order through my Amazon affiliate links or find the ingredients at Sprouts, or other retailers that sell natural body products

Fill your tub with warm water and add the three ingredients listed above.  Soak for 40 minutes, as the first 20 minutes promotes your body’s elimination of toxins, and the last 20 minutes allows for the minerals to fully absorb into your body.  Drink plenty of water after, as this bath will have a similar effect as a massage.

*If you don't have a bathtub you can do a foot soak with 1/2 C Epsom, 2 drops lavender, and warm water, providing similar benefits as toxins will be removed from your body through your feet.
